Bonjour

My name is Pierrot (Pea ro). I live in the province of Quebec Canada.

I am planing a week vacation in the month of may (22 to 29) in Wells.

I would like to fish the strippe bass. This must be a beautiful experience.

I am a ''meature'' fly fisherman. I have experience in salmon fishing, blue trout (imature sea trout), small bass and nothern Pike.

Can someone could give me the ABc on strippe bass fishing

Merci

Pierrot

Ps. my english could be a little difficult to understand but I am tring hard to make it clear. THank you

Pierrot,
I live in Wells. By the end of May the small stripers should be in the rivers in good numbers. The Mousam River in Kennebunk, just a few miles from Wells, is a hot spot. Fish the last couple of hours of the outgoing tide at the river mouth. A 7or 8 weight rod with sinking line to get you down in the current would work best. Can't go wrong with a clouser at the end.
Wells Harbor will also hold fish. Again the out going tide is best. Fish the Drakes Island side of the jetty. There is a parking lot there. Fish off the sandy point towards the harbor. It is almost a must to have waiters unless you fish off the jetty.
I run a par 3 golf course in Wells and also guide. Stop in and talk fishing. I may be able to help you out. Ask for Donny. Good luck.
