|
|
I know I need 8wt floating line for my reel. I just don't know what type of line or backing I need to buy? I mainly sight cast for reds on the flats.
Thanks |

| Cortland Tropic Plus series. It comes in Bonefish, Redfish and one for all around. I use the bonefish one and it works fine for reds in SC. |

| There is no best fly line for a specific weight rod. It all really depends on what rod it is, whether it's fast action or slow. Just because a line is rated at a certain weight doesn't mean that it will work for all rods of the same weight. They way that lines are rated allows for a lot of room for interpretation. There is a rang for the grain weight of a line, so if you have a slower action rod then you want a line on the lower end of that spectrum so that the rod doesn't reach its max load point to early, and conversely if you have a really fast action rod you need the heavier end of the spectrum to load the stiffer blank. Im my opinion the best way to pick a line is to cast them on the rod you are planning to fish, But also take into account the type of fishing environment you will be in mostly... just my 2 cents |

| I really like the RIO Tropical Clouser Line for punching flies into the wind. I've fished it for 2 seasons now and the coating is holding up very well. It also has a welded loop on the end to add on you leader. |
