| Great area to enjoy and fish. One needs a guide or you need a vessel for epic fishing in the bay around Pine Island, Sanibel, Captiva, etc. You can fish the surf of Sanibel, Captiva, within the Ding Darling Preserve on Captiva or discover elsewhere. My experiences have been inland towards pine Island and the mangrove areas near Useppa Island for red fish, snook and tarpon. Either way, I suggest you be oceanside at the break of day for there may be a lot of visible fish nearshore. I have seen many snook and a few tarpon cruising for something early in the AM. |

| I will also be headed down to Sanibel/ Captiva the first week of April. I was just wondering what flys, grubs, or baits have been effective on tarpon and snook. I won't be able to go in a boat, but i will be able to wade or surf fish. Thanks |

Over on facebook some guys posted the following:
Jeff Rainey
Tween Waters Inn..
David Peterson
Good call on Tween Waters. We stay at south seas resort which is expensive and they are not kind to local guides. They have also chAnged policy so if you rent from an owner, you have to pay a lot more to use the resort.
You can rent a boat at Tween Waters as well. We took their 19 foot center consol up to Cabbage Key and N Captiva one day. ...

Early mornings around Blind Pass will be fun for you. Clousers in Pink/white, chartruse/white or white/white are good flies to explore with, Norm Zeigler ties a Schminnow which he says catches everything. His shop is in Sanibel. I have learned that the flies tend to be smaller down there. Size 2 is standard for many patterns. Have fun and it should be warmer when you arrive.
George Jaccoud
Ditto that! I usually fish the Sanibel and Captiva beaches in late June. Norm Ziegler's Schminnow pattern and a 2 1/2 inch gummy minnow work wonders on the snook at that time. The fish are usually cruising right along the surfline so there is no need to wade. Enjoy!!! |

| Tween Waters is a very nice place. Ocean on one side and bay on the other. Family oriented for sure. Have stayed there a lot and esp. for the use of their boat ramp/docks. However, if you only want to fish, look at Johnsons Fish Camp and many of the bed & breakfast cottages available. |

| Correction; Jensens Fish Camp / Marina 239-472-5800, not Johnson's. |

| That's a really beautiful place you should enjoy it. Tween waters is awesome as is south seas although South Seas is getting quite expensive. Fishing the inlet at dawn should be good. |

| Blind Pass Condos. It's beachfront and there are tons of snook in the surf and cruising the beaches. |

hey i live on sanibel and there is a great guide i know that does alot of fishing for trout, reds, and snook. his name is whitney jones and runs out of the baitbox. if your looking for guides you should give the baitbox a call there are a few that run out of there. Good luck |
