Hey All,
I have been a long time observer, but this is my first post. I've been a native fishing the Catskill trout streams for the past few years. I'll be in the Lincoln, ME area for next month or so (unexpectedly). THis puts me away from Catskill fishing, but I still need full fill my spring fever and feel a few tugs. Not looking for exact spots, but more so a book or a local shop in that area th at can drop some local knowledge.
I figured this would be a good place to dig up some local knowledge or places to start anyways.
Thanks ahead of time![/quote] |

The Penobscot for sure. Little Round Pond used to be good for Brookies as well. My newest atlas and depth books say it's been stocked recently as well...
Drive north and fish in the Millinocket area, good stuff in those parts! Haven't fished the area in a looonggg time, but I'll do some research and see if I can get more specific in the future!
Tight Lines!

Right on Ben...Looking at the GoogleEarth images..the Millenocket Wilderness looked pretty prime. Can you recommend a local shop, etc?
I'll be up that way starting Late April and into May/June if your interested. Will be looking for some fishin pals.
PS. been enjoying the webiste...quality work!!! What kind of camera do you use for those pictures on the site? edited? |

Hey Matty,
Hit me up through the website, flies and fins, or maineflyboi@maineflycastings.com and we'll try and get some fishing done. No promises, but i'll know a schedule better in about a month.
As for the pictures on the blog, my primary landscape/wilderness camera is a Canon Rebel T1i with and without a zoom lens depending on the location and situation. My point and shoot is a Olympus Stylus Tough 8000 (wouldn't really recommend it, 12mp photos are grainy on the edges) I do some editing work with Photoshop CS4, but very basic stuff. I'm learning more every day!
Thank you for the kind words on the blog, I'm glad you enjoy it.
FliesandFins.com rules...!

Good deal Ben...I'll hit you up when the time comes a bit closer. I'm not a fan of olympus myself..I've had a few different models and experience grainy photos and less than average quality in low lite.
BTW - Flies and Fins does rule!!..Site is sick! Looking forward to spending some time and exploring Maine!
Anyone recommend any guide books or shops for someone fairly new to the area to scope out? |
