Vacationing in St. John USVI this coming June. Planning to wade and fly fish for whatever swims the shallows. Does anyone have any recommendations of where to go and what to use. My saltwater fly fishing has been limited to snook along the Sanibel/Captiva beaches. Thanks![/u][/i]

I was in St. John a long time ago (20 years or so) and we had a guide trip booked for the day for bonefish. Unfortunately the wind kicked in and the trip was canceled and that was our only day. I did see a few on a flat, but wasn't fishing that day of course. There are some flats that I saw on the south side i think. I would hire a guide for at least one day so you can get a lay of the land. If you do a google search for st. john bonefish arawak guide service comes up and they seem to know the scoop. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I fished with Arthur of Arawalk expeditions this past December and was able to hook up with 3 tarpon and land 1 during a half day trip. He's a great guy who knows a lot about the areas bonefish and tarpon hot spots. I also did a descent amount of fishing from the beach and was able to cast to schools of blue runners and barracuda as well as You may want to check out Leinster bay around Marys Creek that holds some bonefish as well. Maho bay is another bay that holds descent amounts of fish. The Westin hotel has small skiffs you can rent for the day which will open up a lot ore opportunities for you. I fished with an 8wt the majority of the time with a intermediate line using clousers and half and halves. Good luck

I've booked a day with Arthur of Arawak and plan to bring both fly and spin gear. I'll let you know how I make out. Thanks!
