|
|
I went to charleston angler not to long ago and looked for a new 8wt set up for reds out here and the guy that worked there was alot of help and showed me a Nautalis CCF #8 and told me all the specs about it from what he told me it sounds perfect very simple only 1 moving part the drag system is rapped in cork so ur not gunna have a bumpy drag as opposed to other reels after a good number of fish have been on line. the whole drag system is packaged into 1 drum and if u damage it they can replace it real quick instead of sending it off to the shop
so im sayin go with the nautalis i dont think u can go wrong
hope this helps

| Depends on how much you want to spend. Can't go wrong with a Tibor Riptide if you want to spend that much. Mid range pricing I like Bauer. Ive had one on my 8 wt for 7 years now never had any problems. |

| I have a 6 wt Bauer used exclusively on trout. Had it about 5 years and never had a bit of problems with it |

| Hello, thanks chip for your opinion, it is very useful because the nautilus reels are not very expensive and the look good, but when you buy a reel you cant let you go because of the sight, you need to check the drag and the mantainace. Another question,, what could be a good size for a reel to go fishing for any fish like tarpon, permit, barracuda, bonefish, redfish,,, let say i take my reel everywhere i go. |

Unless your targeting huge fish I really feel like nice reels are just for show.
I wish I had hundreds and thousands of dollars to blow on equipment but the truth is.. I DON'T. Been using the same martin POS fly reel forever..
Don't get me wrong though, I have rio top of the line fly on it.
In my opinion all my reel does is hold my fly line. Just get nice fly line.. In case anyone is wondering I live in western ny and fish for bass and trout. So you die hard saltwater fisherman might say otherwise but this is just how I feel about expensive fly reels. |

| haha yes i think the same but orvis or nautilus arent so expensive,,but if you decide for the feather weight and the mirage are more expensive. in my opinion the tibor are freakin´ expensive just like sage reels, 750$$,, i like large arbor battenkill but they dont have a strong drag, thats why am deciding for a stronger reel |
