hey, guys, here recently I've been facinated with catching a gar on a fly the only problem is Ive ony been able to get them to take poppers and deer hair divers, I've heard about rope flies but not really sure how and what size to tie, thae one I have got to take instantly break off the the fly no matter how gentle I try to be, Any help is appreciated

Another and for me more effective trick is to tie a deciver with a thin wire hook and make the wing out of panty hose. The light wire hook can stick in the mouth of the gar if the gar's teeth dont get wrapped in the panty hose. Most times I just use a light wire hook on a clouser minnow.
