Hey My wife Georgianna and I just returned from fishing Betsie (Hi and Muddy) Pere Marquette ( high and murky) and Manistee (clear and fishable) We spent the last three days throwing flies at pools n runs that held few salmon....locals and dnr say run is 2 weeks late due to hot summer. Tippy dam is producing a few early fish to hardware tossers....downstream at "Rainbow" a few more fish are being caught....but clearly the run has not started. Michigan has done a wonderful job building and maintaining ashphalt and concrete river access points with the cleanest restrooms you can imagine. only $5 a day for parking and boat launches in these areas with good maps available. Been a few years since I last visited This "Hardwood Heaven", the forests are so dence you need a flashlight if you venture in daytime. Sadly the Industrial base here has everyones personal posessions out on the front lawn for sale.....and Ive never seen so many new and old busness ventures boarded up and for sale....If you have time , visit and enjoy Michigans outdoors, they take vey good care of you...best wishes juice
