Give the Orvis Wonderline a try (depth charge) ... It has a thick backing section with a slick coating on it. Keeps things tangle free for the most part ... helps a great deal when you have a lot of line off the reel and laying in a stripping basket or on the deck of a boat.

Look at the AIRFLO 40 Plus Lines. They cast great, sink fast and won't coil up in cold water. Cool

I use Rio Striper DC lines. On my 9 weight, I have 300 grain

I typically use a 10 weight for stripers, and I like to use a 350 - 400 grain Rio Striper DC line. This helps punch through the hard winds, and also gets down deep quick. I like fishing the mouths of estuaries and bays, and the grain line on a hard incoming tide or outgoing, gets down deep and quick... which is often the difference for me in getting hook ups. In the spring, it wasn't so much what pattern I was throwing, it was how deep was I getting.

The running line is intermediate sinker, and is color coded for the weight. Light blue for 350, pale yellow green for 400 etc.

I really like the line you just have to give the running line a good stretch if you leave it on the reel too long, otherwise you get that awesome nest that jumps out of your stripping basket.
