Hi guys, i am a trout guide from Fernie BC and former steelhead guide form Smithers. Anyhow, I am heading down to Naples at the end of november for a week to visit my folks.
I spent a week there last fall and had a great time, slayed snooks one day at Clam pass, had a brief chat with Marshall actually there.
Only did well at Clam the one day though, DT flies out fishing the bait guys, that is a rare occurence! It was awesome as every cast you would have 5 or ten snook following your fly! I hit the same tide several other days thinking i had it all figured out but the snook didnt show up in significant numbers!

I have a few questions, does anyone fish the canals right in Naples, I couldnt believe how many fish i could see in them, i couldnt really figure out the bite though, hooking only a gar and none of the bass or snook!

When is a good time of day for the bass in the ponds? What fly would you use?

Wiggins pass: Is it worth renting a canoe and fishing the estuary there?

Tamiami: I've fished collier-seminole from a canoe and did well there for baby tarpon, 2-10 lbs. (didnt land a single one but hooked quite a few!) and small snook. I am a little worried about walking and wading the trail, something about water mocassins i don't like, oh yeah it's that they are aggressive and venomous! Should i not worry about that?
Any tips on Big Cypress? Can you rent a canoe?

Thanks all, Marshall and Marcel, for all the posts on this area.
If you want a fishing partner or if you need info on the best westslope cuthroat, bull trout and steelheading on the planet, I'm your man,
K-dog

Did well in Naples this year, like Marshall says it is always
different at the coast and that keeps it interesting.
