Oct. 6th.

Yesterday afternoon I got a call from Diamond Dave to fish a lake on a golfcourse in Naples.
I gladly accepted the invitation and so we went on the search for the elusive largemouth bass.
We where fishing surface lures in a lake which seemed to be teeming with fish.
Diamond Dave's popper was briefly followed by a fish but was not nailed. The bass where not cooperating.
The local snook where more inclined to eat flies and Diamond Dave soon had his first fish on.

Surface lures did not work for me so I switched to a EP minnow type backcountry brown.
I was pretty confident that the EP minnow would yield some kind of fish.
Within 15 minutes I had hooked something substantial that put up quite a hefty battle, a nice snook had taken the fly.

Dark colored freshwater snook.

Diamond Dave continued his snook spree with one other little snook from
the golf course.

Near sunset activity went down and we called it a day.
It was pretty darn hot and humid on the golf course, typical Florida weather I would say.
So a big thanks for Diamond Dave for allowing me
to catch my first snook of the season.

October 7th.

I was not confident enough to flyfish the beach this morning due to all the red tide mess since I came into town.
Instead I waited untill this mornings rain showers died down and went for a jig fishing section on Naples pier.

Naples pier, today.

The water is still dirty but it has cleared a lot since yesterday.
Dozens of hungry snook where moving in the shallows this morning.
I only managed to catch two catfish on a jig but I have seen people catching pompano, snook and redfish on the pier.
Things seem to be improving on a day by day basis, there where quite a few people on the pier and the beach.
