I am currently in the market for a fast, tip flex 5 wt for the Delaware River. I have a TFO 7 weight that has slayed more than it's fair share of steel and treated me well, however, it is their price point rod and i use it as such. With that said I'm looking at the TiCR X or Axiom series rods. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks.

Whip-

I have a fast action low end TFO rod and use it mainly as a streamer rod. But, have also used it for dries and nymphs. I think that it casts great for the price that I got it for. This past summer I fished with a guy and TFO was his sponsor. He was kind enough to let me throw some line with it. I am not sure which model (maybe TiCr x) it was but I am assuming that it was top of the line. Anyway, I was throwing double streamers with it and it was very smooth and responsive.

I have the reg Ticr in a 6wt I love for throwing streamers and nymphing. I also have a 5 wt Finesse series I fish with a DT line that is killer for dries and nymphing.

My buddy let me throw his Ticrx 6wt this fall...it is fast and seemed to throw best by overlining to a 7wt line.

I actually broke my 5wt this summer on the WB and called up TFO...three days later I had a new stick for a $25 replacement fee and sent the old one back. Good cust service.

For the price TFO is hard to beat.

i fish a 5wt 10foot TFO it does it all include rope big fish. streamers indie fishing and dries. so great i bought two.

i also fish a 10 foot 7wt TFO
also a 9 foot 6wt TFO
and a 15 foot 10wt TFO

they all kill it

i like it way better than my sage 5wt simply because i break them and they come back way way way fast especially with a hand written note about some hatch going off.

Hey whip! i don't have a lot of first hand knowledge on the TFO fly rods, but every once in a while when boz and i fish together for trout and salmon, i will grab his TFO while he is fishing dries or such. Every time i had ever picked it up i would think to myself...."wow, this is nice!" Always seemed to have the perfect amount of backbone for streamers and nymphs.....but is this what you are looking for? It seems as though you are mostly fishing dries and emergers on the delaware river? Hopefully someone else can tell you if TFO sells fast action fly rods that will be fit for your needs of dry flies and emergers. Good luck!

definitley looking for a tip flex. The largest fish in the system are always sipping on the opposite bank, on the delaware this means you need to throw a 60' to 70' cast and wind is ever present. I have been fishing a mid-flex sage down there forever and it is torture. I need a weapon that can punch a tight loop through the wind without breaking down, becoming unstable and starting to wobble...fishing a mid-flex down there is like bringing a knife to a gun fight. thanks a bunch for a ll the great feedback.

Must be some FF shows coming up in your neck of the woods? Give those Ticrx's a test drive they might be the tool your looking for...
I'll be down in Marlboro MA in a few weeks and plan to demo lots of rods including TFO's...
