I got my hands on a new Lamson Konic Reel a couple weeks ago and used it for the first time last week while fishing for steelhead back east. I really like the reel, especially for the price. The drag is smooth, it is light weight and feels very rugged. This is the first Lamson Reel I have owned and have been impressed with it thus far. Any one else use Lamson reels? I am interested to hear what others have to say about their products.
I have a Lamson Lightspeed 2 reel (pre-Alox) for 4 through 6 weight lines. I found it on sale for $160 and bought it on the spot. The large arbor is fantastic for quick line pick-up and less line coil. The drag is sooo smooth. It protects light tippets exceptionally well and has enough stopping power for tributary steelhead and browns and holds a 100yds of 20lb. backing with a 6 weight line. If I ever get the money to buy another lamson reel, I would do it in a heart beat. It does not matter what model either, as they all have that incredibly smooth drag and great look. Maybe i'll invest in the Konic myself!
