Novice, Iowa fisherman trying to plan a trip with some buddies to Colorado for some trout fishing. I am looking for a great experience, scenery, hopefully some fish. Something a novice fly fisherman could enjoy. Does anyone have any advice for where to look when planning. Probably late June, will book a guide for at least one day.

Been there, done that! Kind of looking for a new experience. One of the guys I'm going with has never been to the mountains. Looking for the scenery, experience as much as the fishing.

Cyrish,

I live in Edwards about 100 miles into the mountians from Denver. the fishing here is killer. I work PT for the fly shop here and could definately point you in the right direction. We have tailwaters with in an hour drive that hold giant bows and browns, free stone rivers with many fish over 20" and mountains that go on forever. If its june you are thinking keep in mind that we have had a lot of snow this year and june might be during some of the peak run off. It is tough to tell now but we are certainly going to have some high water in a few months. PM me before you make your final plan.
