Ok,
Here's my situation. I moved out of Maine many years ago and have been itching to catch some larger brook trout than what I've been able to find in MA.
I am looking for either a guide recommendation or an offer from a local fisherman in the central/southern ME area to head out to some local waters in hopes of catching some big square-tails. I'm not looking for any lessons here, just some local knowledge.
I'm trying to avoid what I've done twice now which is a long drive followed by hours trying to find access to a river that I'm unfamiliar with only to eventually get to a spot that is 'popular' and therefore loaded with fellow fishermen.
I can drive up pretty much any day (I'll assume as far north as Bangor, 4 hours for me) with a couple of weeks advance planning.
Any of you guys from central/southern ME mind hooking up with an ex-Mainer for some fishing? If not, could anyone please recommend a friend/colleague of yours that guides in this area?

Well its a bit early due to all the snow we have had up here, water is high and flow is is high, but upper Androscoggin river is a good place to get some brook ,rainbows, and brown trout ! you can start where the wild river meets the Andro. you can have some good luck there depending on your approach, nymphing and emergers. Do you know about the deerfierld river in western mass ,really good fishable water from vermont border down to greenfield area, Seems that this would be an ideal time to fish this sweet lil river for brookies, and you are about two weeks ahead of us into the season,so you might want to consider this river as it is close to your location!!! I am open to hooking up with you ,when conditions up here are more favorable to wetting a line up here!!! Drop a line and we'll talk!!!
