Anybody looking to get on some stripers can. The mouth of the Housatonic river is producing fish. I went this past weekend got into some schoollies. I was hearing of bigger fish getting caught in the mix too so there are some chances to get something nicer.

I live on long island( glen Cove) and have been on some good schoolie action. Few days ago got 27" on a bobs banger so its starting to get hot around here, bunker and shad starting to arrive.

I'm just north of Boston and just got my first striper yesterday and my brother took two from the same spot a short while later, we were a bit surprised to see some bigger fish already here. He caught two in the 23-24" range which isn't bad early season.

The early-ish schoolie stripers are continuing to impress, got two last night on the incoming tide, and both were in the 17"-22" range. Is this due to the fact that I was fishing a larger clouser or, as I suspect, is it just evidence of a healthy fishery?

Hit the Presumpscot this morning on foot. Tides were all wrong and I knew that going in---low at 4:50 or so. No fish but a decent number of alewives were seen coming in with the tide. It should be happening in most tidal rivers any day now. I've heard Scarborough Marsh and the usual southern Maine spots are starting to show fish.

I fished the Saco at the dam the other day, some big fish were risen to soft rubber jigs as well as plugs, had a few chases on a new pattern I tied but no solid takes. This coming week should be pretty decent fishing in the Saco.

The shad are in heavy as well, nice fish up to 5 lbs were taken, some of the biggest I have seen in a while.

I fished the Royal River in Yarmouth today and saw no fish at all, plug fishermen did nothing either, so the fish simply weren't there, still a bit early for that river I suppose.
