So finally after years and years of being overseas back and forth between being station in the states and countless times on deployments and the endless effort to try to manage my time and get my fishing course done in Germany.
I was finally rewarded with it last month, so what did I do, well I went down to the Baden Wurtemburg region and try to see what I can land, I was pretty excited the whole drive down through Stuttgart on my way toward the Donau River near the town of Neudingen, flashes of fish jumping in the back of my head, the excitement of the fight, and the beautiful scenery to see.
WoW !, was this reality, finally a chance to throw some flies, what more could I have ask, even if I didn't meet my expectations of catching even a branch or twig, it was that finally I was just able to fish in Europe, and not alot of Americans can say that, but this fellow from Boise, Idaho can at last .
So the first couple of Cast brought me no luck, as the day went on and more Apfel Schorle was being drank up by me, I start to notice fish hitting top water, time for a new tactic, tied on a Royal Humpy and it was a hit, but not a big one, but it was fish on, my first European fish WoW..! the excitement was stirring, then all of a sudden my line gave, was my first fish ever in Germany gone ?, so I started pulling in my lines slowly again and then it hit me, there was a fish on, Still on..! it wasn't a monster but it was a fish, I manage to land the fish, a trophy in my eyes, my first European fish, no i didn't land him in my net, more like my left palm, but I was mystify by the delight of this fish, looks like a shiner, so I strolled on to the bank and talk to some bank fishermen nearby in my broken German and they called the fish, my Trophy, a Rot Auge, what a delight, I went back out and caught more of them, I was having the time of my life with them little buggers. So When I find out how to post some pictures on this thing, I'll hook it up with some pictures of the Monster..! and some scenery until then got a football (Soccer) game to watch, Petri Heil.!, so if anyone has any clues on posting pics on the forum section please inform me too, thank you.

Congrats to your first fish Very Happy

Hey, those guys that called it a "Rotauge" obviously have bought their test since it looks more like a "Rotfeder".

This Rudd (Scardinius Erythropthalmus) it actually a prized fish for flyanglers where I live.
It has a golden glow to it and its upturned mouth indicates means it
will feed in the surface (it is our favorite dry fly target).

Looking forward to future reports, hope you catch a "Rapfen" soon Wink

Yeah the local Gasthof that sells the Daily fisihng permits says theres no limits or size to the Rotfeder, and they are good smoked whole, the only good advantages of catching them was that they offer great practice on casting techniques, and when see a school of them hitting top water thats where I would cast too, and 90% of the time its a fish on. and thanx for the assistant in helping me post the pictures.
