Hi Guys,
Lately I've been taking my 3 wt out on the hunt for largemouth bass and it's been fantastic. Earlier in the week I cased out a local pond which is known for big bass but I had never fished before, I started out with my 3 wt but the bass that followed my first cast in was way too big for the likes of my noodley 3 wt...so I made a quick change to the 5 wt and caught a real nice 3 lbs largemouth, my largest ever.
Today I hit another pond which was full of baby bass, I must have caught 20 of them on the 3 wt and some really large bluegills as well. Thinking that where there's small bass there must be some big bass as well I started stalking around the pond and noted two big guys cruising the western bank, I had just tied on a 5x tippet so I was a bit concerned with my ability to actually land a bigger bass, but started casting regardless. Within just a few minutes I hooked up with the first, and largest of the two, and with some careful pressure landed a 1.5 lbs largemouth, pretty exciting on the 3 wt. Was able to spot the second one again and caught him a few minutes later...a great day for the 3 wt.
Hope all is well,
Zach |
