I was just recently in montana and hung out with a few guys who live in vegas ... i asked them the same exact question. i remember them telling me that the only trout fishing (allbeit good trout fishing) is lees ferry in arizona (it the colorado river) ... anyway, there is some great fly fishing at lees ferry (its a tailwater) and the aesthetics is some of the best ever .. with massive canyon walls on both sides of the river ..

Reno is only a short flight away and has plenty of options. Truckee River, Carson River, East Walker, West Walker River & Pyramid Lake just to name a few. When your done with those explore Northern California.

Have fun.

Pretty cool stuff. Big Water. Tiny Flies. And a unique strain of awesomely colored, wild rainbows.
