I'm headed down to the cape to visit a buddy in the Wellfleet area the 27-29th I was wondering if anyone could give me a any info on that area tides beaches ect. I will be fishing on foot and I might bring a kayak down to fish out of. Fly shops and guides would be helpful also. Thanks

Bayside beaches in Wellfleet can fish quite well. I like the dropping tide, starting about 3 hours into the drop---depending on the tide heights. Check your tide charts. As the tide drops you can wade out and fish channels between bars as well as some flats. Fish the first couple of hours of incoming but be careful---don't hang around too far out for too long, those little dips and low spots on the drop can be over your wader tops if you wait too long on the incoming. Cruise the outer oceanside beaches as well and look for structure---you'll find more noticable structure there, steep drops off of high bars as the tide drops. Flyfishing conditions can be difficult with heavy surf but I've caught and seen some very large fish caught on the outer beaches, especially at night.

For shops, check out Goose Hummock in Orleans just off the rotary.
