Mick,

The Loomis GLX are great fast action rods and would be suitable for saltwater fishing, downside is they are pricey.

Don't overlook their GL3 series they are relatively inexspensive and are Very durable and cast nicely...I use a few of them for guiding and beat on them daily... I have had no complaints.

Best of luck!

If you are looking at salt water royou can think also about the Native run. This come in Glx or not and the vary a lot in price. Best thing is to look at the gloomis site at www.gloomis.com

G'day Mick,

You have scored yourself a wonderful fly reel! Mate you should compliment it with an 8 wt crosscurrent fly rod. I use the standard crosscurrent here in Australia now for the past 3 years and it's a machine. Not as expensive as the GLX and you also get the great warranty from EJ Todd and in this day an age that should be the first item when buying a new rod. I've been burnt by the others.
So my crosscurrent has taken an absolute flogging in Weipa for 3 years and still looks like new. Sensational to cast with and handles large clousers and profiles no worries.
Good luck mate.

Hi Anzac,

what fish do you catch with this CC and what wt it is? For my planned holidays in Scotland (OK, not just for this one event - in fact, this year was at end no holidays for me...), thanks to historically cheapest dollar for us, I've purchased CC GLX wt 9 and my friend for now wants some rod for adriatic little tuna fishing, he said up to 20 pound, from boat. And there is difference in price, between wt 9 and 10, which would be probably better for him.

What do you think about it, would be wt 9 enough?

Sorry have been busy.
Well done on the GLX 9wt. I have used mine from everything from trout (heavy nymphing sounds mad I know Shocked ) up to heavy saltwater species tuna, sharks, Queenfish and GT's.
I have owned quite a few rods and the 9wt is the best all round rod. There is trick to landing big fish from a boat, just keep in mind that you want the fish tired when he comes to the boat, not full of life...saves rods.
My sister will be receiving two G Loomis Exeperience saltwater rods today for our trip to NZ. She'll be doing a few articles with them catching Kingfish in the 40lbs range, so she'll keep you informed.
So your mate will do well with a 9wt no problems.
Hope it helps.
