anyone who has been on this site for a long time must recognize the name "Marcel" .. he's the guy who i often think is from Germany, but is infact from the netherlands ... it's an easy mistake to make i guess, since the guy seems to be fishing all over europe all the time ... anyway, marcel has been a member of fliesandfins.com since May 23, 2004! .. he usually takes an annual trip to Florida, USA at this time of year ... but, this year he is coming to the northeast! i helped him out with suggesting some spots to stay, fish etc... so, he is gonna be posted up on misquamicut beach in Rhode Island ... he's never been up this way and he has a very humble goal .. "to catch 1 striper" .... i think he is staying for 2 weeks or something like that at some little beachside motel ... so, hopefully marcel will have access to internet as he does when he would go to florida and be able to post some updates while he is on his fishing vacation/journey here in the united states...

anyway --- i think marcel arrives saturday night and will be fishing first thing sunday ... and though i have never personally met marcel .. from his posts from europe and his past trips to florida .. i get the impression that he fishes all day and right through the night .... marcel, you will find that rhode island is very conducive to that mindset (especially this time of year) and you won't be the only one fishing round the clock .. and for good reason! ... ok .. well, have a safe journey across the pond marcel ... i am gonna try to get down there sooner than later and take you to a few spots in my boat .. but, that's only if you like casting into pods of hundreds of fish .... i'll also show ya some spots on foot for you to check out throughout your stay ....

safe journey's marcel .. plenty of fish waitin' for you. you are gonna have a blast, i hope so anyway!

Looking forward to my visit and finally meet up with Jeremy.
I joined FF after one of my visits in Naples FLa, the local Orvis
shop had just gotten a simple solutions website and I was introduced
by phone to Jeremy by the shops owner Mark Ward.
We always seemed to be at different times in Florida but I guess this
time we will finally fish together....

I have been following the fishing news on the area I will be visiting
and it all sounds very good.
That one Striper I am after will surely come out of the water.
I also look forward to encounter some of the big bluefish I have red so much about, only had a few shots at their smaller cousins from the
Gulf of Mexico untill now.

I have finished spooling the tioga's magnum tens.
I have one reel with a teeny T300, one with a #9 clear intermediate and one with a # 9 multi-tip shooting head system.
Today I will spool the Orvis Mid arbors for the #8 multi-tip shooting head and a #8 floater.

Prime fishing rod will be an Orvis T3 #9, as a backup I have ordered an
Orvis clearwater #9 at Mike Holts shop.
The 8-weight department is covered by a #8 Clearwater and a Sage DS rod.

The LL Bean stripping basket stays at home, instead I ordered an Orvis basket also at Mike Holts shop.
I am a lazy flytier so I have not tied any flies, instead I will use the ones I have left from Florida with a supplement of clousers.
I do have a selection of local flies though which I aquired on an auction at Stripersonline - big flies !

My arrivaltime will be most likely be very late in the evening in Misquimicut Beach.
After such a long day of Travel I will most likey be very tired but I am still pondering if I should just get my waders, headlamp and walk to the beach in search of some fish.

And one last thing ... travel rules for entering the US via the visa waiver program have changed as I have just discoverd.
In the past you had to fill out the visa-waiver form during plane travel to the US, now it is required to register in advance on a website of homeland security to get a travel authorization.
That new rule was in effect after August 1st. and required to get authorization at least 72 hrs before departure.
I only just found out about this and arranged authorization just in time.

So much to fish so little time. I hear you. Cool weather should definitely bring those stripers in as well. Seen a report about some decent ones down around where you'll be. You should be in for some good fishing.
