Hello !

In a first time, I’m really sorry about my English. With the time and by the way of this site I promise you to become better !
I’m a French guy from the south-east quarter of France. I live near Lyon, in a backcountry called Beaujolais. It’s the place where the wine of the same name is made (not our better French wine….).

I fish since I’m 5 years old. I started with my father, but after my Tenth birthday, I fished alone.
Only during holidays because I lived in the suburb of Paris, very far away of nice rivers !

I fished all kind of species, with a predilection for trout and pikes: two species in danger because of river’s catastrophic management.

With my girlfriend, we have decided to quit Paris to Lyon. It was the good choice !! All the pleasure from a nice, very alive, beautiful and big (1,2 millions of inhabitants with the suburb) city but with the proximity of Alps mountains (yehaaa !! I like skiing !!), nice countryside and real trout rivers !! It was time for me, after discover the advantage and pleasure of no kill with another main of fishing, to learn fly fishing.

I learn fly fishing in one of the greatest but most difficult trout river in France, the “basse rivière d’Ain”. If you want more information about this river, please click here : www.basserivieredain.com

Now it’s the end of my second year. It’s the year of my first “big” trout (for a French guy in French river Sad ) and first grayling, first pike and first amazing fish “for me” : the barbell.

After this year, I’m sure about one think, I’m really and absolutely hooked by fly fishing. It’s a kind of drug ! I have even to begin to go fishing offshore (with two little, but very little, fishs !!)

I’ve joined a French community about fly fishing and no kill. Here you can find the link to this site and my blog.

Next year, we must go in California with my girlfriend, during three weeks (period : Automn). It’s a very important and big travel for us. The object is not only fly fishing, we would like to understand a part of American spirit and discover a country what appears in France like the country of extremes.

The object of this travel it’s to discover another USA. We are fed up of the vision of the USA proposed by the French TV and we prefer to be made our own opinion.

I decided to join this community because I think it’s a good way to understand the US fly fishing spirit. During the next months, I’ll probably ask you lot of questions about fly fishing in river and sea in California. I don’t have lot of thinks to exchange with you, but be sure of one thing : If you travel in France next year near Lyon, I shall be delighted to accompany you on my favourite river. And I have “the sure choice” about wine !
Thanks to have learned me

Thats some nice words coming from a french guy.. Laughing , and I think you will enjoy California, we americans usually don't care about the opinions of the french people that think indifferently of us, or any other country's opinion, but coming from a fellow fly fishermen, I'll be the first to gladly accept your views as a very positive way in wanting to see the states and make your own opinion, I have never Fly fish in France maybe one day. it's a shame that rivers in alot of countries get polluted, but alot of countries don't have such organization like we do in the States that go out of their way to preserve fishermens rights and clean up peoples trash, but if there were more of us Fly Caster or Anglers in the world that take our time in preserving fish habitats and making an impact in society then there would be less rivers being polluted, thats my View. Glad to have ya.
