Fished a western New York tributary with my two sons the other day for an hour and a half. With my 2 year old in the kid carrier and my 6 year old by my side, we found a few fish to take our flies. The weather made it even more amazing. With temperatures in the mid 60's we could not have asked for a better day. And most importantly, I was able to enjoy the company of my boys. The reason why I am posting this link to my blog page (that has the complete story) is because I am very proud of my 6 year old son. He battled each fish like a pro and was able to hold onto some very large fish. I am a very proud father, as you can imagine! So here is the link.

NICE! I know exactly how you feel .. there is something just so cool about fishing with your son(s) .. to see the curiousity on their faces as they take in all that is around them .. and just when they are losing interest and forget why they are even there .. FISH ON! and then, .. well, i don't know who is more excited me or them! I used to bring my son in the back pack too! now he is a bit older 3 and 1/2 years old ... so far he has caught a brook trout, bluefish and a lake trout ... we have a little system where i cast and he reels in the fish ... i am looking forward to the day when our rolls revers and he can do all the casting and hard work of finding the fish .. and i can just reel them in Very Happy ..

here is a fish tale from a while back when finn was just a baby ... ps.. thanks for posting this, reminds me that i should take my boys fly fishing before it gets too cold ..

My dad took me fishing all the time when I was very young. One of my first big fishing trips was to the Salmon River during the salmon run. We were fishing the lower fly zone when I hooked my very first salmon. I was sooo excited. I can still remeber the guys cheering me on right before I lost it. Great Times. Good Post.
