Matt, my buddy Gilly and I purchased a Gheenoe last fall. The previous owner did not want to haul it back to Fla. so he got rid of it for a song. I think we gave him $700 for it.

They are a very stable craft and enjoy an almost cult like following. We live very close to a large SW Marsh system. Our intention is to use a push pole and eventually add a small outboard to it. Think tossing crab flies to spooky fish in skinny water.

Spend some time on their website as you can purchase used rigs for a good price.

a gheenoe is the most stable canoe that I have ever fished off of. I used to have one that I built up the transom, and put a 25 merc on it. It did 32mph. You could see the floor moving with the water, and I was waiting for the boat to just disappear out from under me. It eventually did when a 50ft boat waked me and sunk it along with a ton of gear. It was probably the scariest thing that I have ever experienced on the water.

On a slick calm day with nobody around a gheenoe can be great, any other day it is a total ass kicking. Don't waste your time. A tricked out gheenoe will run you at least $8,000. Take that money and throw it in the garbage, or find a little waterman, pathfinder, john boat, etc. You'll be glad you did.
