Hey guys, Hopefully everyone's having a killer season so far....or for those who season never ended. Anyway im looking for some tips on fishing with a dog. I've got a lab pup on the way and I wanna trainer her to be a fishing buddy. Any tips would be great? Whens the best time to start taking them out? how do you keep them from swimming out to you? anything at all. Thanks!

Geib-

I have a chocolate lab that is just over a year and I brought him with me since I got him at 8 weeks. He is a great fishing buddy, while I am doing my thing he is usually sniffing around on the bank looking for something to eat ( he loves to eat). He also likes to come over and check the fish out once you have one in the net. I have never had a problem with him swimming out to me he is usually occupied by his nose. I would just bring him or her out when ever you get a chance. Good luck let us know how it works out.....another thing is if you plan on putting your dog in a boat do it right off. I had ours in my boat on the river very early and he is great in the boat. Just lies there and sleeps. Have fun.
