Fly Fishing - New York City (NYC) Fly Fishing Guide: Any Recommendations?

Would love to hear from another other ffers from the rhody area on watcha been catchin & were ya been goin. Unless of course, it's your secret spot. And if you're a die hard Rhody Angler please post a fishing report for the State!! I went this a.m. and got a lot of seaweed, saw some really cute crabs though... Rolling Eyes

Welcome to fliesandfins.com .. there definately are quite a few "Rhodies" on here. I live in Portland, Maine now .. but grew up in Charlestown Rhode Island and commercial fished for many years out of Pt. Judith and still go down there to fish and visit my folks a lot. I was just down there last week infact fishing with my friend Ed ... and we also happened to see "RhodyFlyGuy" (from this site) out on the water (ps. Rhodyflyguy, I got your voicemail but no phone number .. I could barely here you that day over the engines running, but if you are spending your summer up here in Maine .. we should fish! send me a pm) -- Anyway, I am not sure that people will give you their "honey holes" but people are usually pretty good with "general" information.

There were lots of fish down there when I was there down around the Charlestown area. Lot's of sand eels too ... look for the terns working ... it seemed that even if we saw a few turns circling in the air, there were fish under them. Infact one evening my friend Ed and I were fishing and it was so foggy you couldn't even see 20 feet so we relied on the turns to help us find the fish and we did ... What part of RI do you live in?

PS. we also had great luck on big flatwing squid patterns that Ed tied up and gurglers too.
