Fly Fishing - Fly Fishing Cuba: Jardines De La Reina Info?

Anyone fish there specifically on the southern side of the Island in a area called the Los Jardines de la Reina?

Jardines is a Cuban Marine Park, very similar to the Florida Keys. There´s no commercial fishing since 1996 and i think is the biggest marine park of Cuba.

Please let me know what you need about Jardines. Season, species, tackle?

You can fish all the inshore grand slam species.

Since years ago, all that area is under the administration of a big operation. Specialized in fishing trips.

I understand the Co. in charge for the Jardines de la Reina (JDR) is Avalon and they have a floating Hotel and four vessels to serve as Motherships with skiffs in tow. Also the Jardines is the largest uninhabited archipelago remaining and larger than the FL Keys. I imagine one could fish there for days w/o seeing other fishermen.

Yes Ajax, you can expect that.

When i fish CUBA i´m always imagine that is like FK, but 50 years ago. Maybe not, because i´m just 37, but i´ve been in both waters, and they are really similar. Nevertheless FK have bigger Tarpon migration and sizes than the west coast of Cuba.

FK is easier to get to, but heavily fished. I hear now the fish of JDR have seldom seen a fly. But 50 years ago the place was nearly ''fished-out" by the hungry locals.
