So my fiance and i are going to the mediterranean this summer for vacation and of course the first thing i looked at is the fishing options. Where there is water there are fish. I have since done quite a bit of research and was pleasantly surprised to find that the mediterranean is a top spot for albies and bonito. I knew that tuna were there of course since a large part of the overfishing for bluefin occurs in the mediterranean but hadn't really thought it through since I hadn' t had a trip planned there. Anyway as we have been planning this trip we decided to go to montenegro and croatia impulsively because they look like pretty amazing spots to visit for a bunch of different reasons. Actually there is some great freshwater fishing for trout there too, but that is another story. This is about the pelagics! Anyway, I have read and found some general info on fishing and even fly fishing in montenegro and croatia but it is limited and was just curious if anyone on here has any info on this area or greece or italy since they are in relative close proximity. I have read Marcel's posts about Greece and that was good info, thanks Marcel but if anyone has any info at all about fly fishing in the mediterranean or fly fishing or just fishing in croatia, montenegro or surrounding areas it would be appreciated. Doesn't have to be super specific just general areas or guides or anything. Thanks!

Figured you had already found that site, I will have to check that video
you mentioned.
I guess it is difficult to source info from that locale, most focus will be on troutfishing in those parts.

Kory:

During my trip to Scotland, all my attempts at plans using the internet and email fell through. In the end, the telephone was a more effective means of hooking up with a guide. I used internet to find prospects but was more effective in establishing contact via the telephone... so if the Croates and Montenegrans are anything like to Scots, don't restrict yourself to email contacts. Have a great trip!

Oh, and have you tried checking with the consulates in NYC?

Dave

Mind you that maybe the info you are searching for is not available in
the English language. Found something about the Tuna's on a Kroatian website but since I do not speak the lingo I have no clue what exactly is
stated there. You could give it a shot and dig up a contact adress on that website and ask your questions or use google translate to see if you can make anything of it.

Dave- thx for the tips...not sure I will be able to nail down specifics ahead of time but good idea to call that's for sure and the consulate is a good idea hadn't thought about that.

Marcel-awesome I appreciate that! Language barrier is an issue but you can just plug the address into google translate and you are good to go (with a little margin for error Wink ). Now you have got me thinking about translating a few phrases in Croatian and searching google Croatia...thanks again!
