I'm from Atlanta and in my town, Alpharetta, the hooch runs straight through so naturally I throw for trout. My problem now is that I go to school in Charleston and I have been trying to get at them Reds but I dont know how the leader system works for these fish. What kind of leader do I need to use for these boys???

Get about 6ft 20# Seagaur flouro for the butt section and add about 3ft 12# tippet. I just use a blood knot to make the connection its pretty simple and it works. It is important to check the 12lb tippet every so often especially when you are around oysters. Go to Haddrells Point in West Ashley (like 2 minutes from the Citadel) or Mt Pleasant.

Ya pretty much what he said will work fine, you dont have to have it perfect for them but in the wintertime right now they are a little slower. Also I recommend Haddrells as well but if a Charleston Angler store is closer to you then they will have anything you need. They also sell other fly fishing gear.

I like too use at least a 9' leader for redfish and at times a 12' leader. This is mainly if your trying too sight fish them. If your using a 8 or 9 wt rod I would normally use a 40# butt five or six feet and then taper down 30 then 20#. If your fishing in really clear water you might want too scale down to 15, but you can get mor break offs on bigger fish.
