Hey guys im trying to send some flies to my friend in Mass. What are the best flys for fresh and salt there? If you can, can you please say what fly catches what fish?

There are lot's of flies to choose from that fish well in this region, but a couple of the go-to patterns that you might want to tie and send to your friend might be ..

Freshwater Trout Flies

Wooly Buggers
Prince Nymphs
Elk Hair Caddis


Saltwater

Flatwings (a fun fly to tie too)- Stripers
Deceivers & Clousers - Stripers, Bluefish
Epoxy Sand Eel & Anchovie Type Patterns - Stripers, Bluefish, Albies, Bonito

Just some ideas for you to think about, hope this helps.
