Just saw this picture on a Dutch fishing site, a flamingo found on one of our larger lakes.
Some of these animals have escaped a zoo way back when and have established themselves.
This one was taken to an animal shelter because it was appearantly sick.

I have searched some more on the Flamingo story and it seems that not
very far from where I live we have a colony of these birds nesting.
Those are Chilean Flamingo mixed with some birds from a Carribean Flamingo species. In summer time they live and nest in a marsh area in the Dutch/German border area while in winter time they move to the coast to escape hard water.
