Hi everyone. I ran into this forum via a site from British Columbia, my home. I have a job that allows me to keep my waders damp but I am far from an expert. I've flyfished still waters for years but have been focusing mostly on salmon and steelhead in the rivers the past four years. I am heading to Lake Placid in early August and would like to take a day to fish some Adirondack water. Any "heads up" on this area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and I look forward to BSing with you all.

Welcome aboard, the BS here is first rate Cool

I live in the Adirondacks, or close enough so I can spit on it from my house so when it gets close, I will show you around. Of course I may have to bother you in BC sometime for those steelies.

Take lots of pics and tell the tales, Looking forward to it

I know a guy in Wilmington which is down the road from Lake Placid, he runs the Ausable River Sports Shop and is a hell of a guy. His name is Kevin and one of the best and nicest up there. There is also the Orvis shop in Lake Plaicd, the fly shop at the Hungry Trout and Fran Betters shop as well. So there will not be a lack of knowlegable guys in the area. I'd recommend Kevin though, he's a good guy and knows his stuff. As for fishing, the West Branch of the Ausable is right there and is good fishing. Also the Saranac and Bouquet rivers are near by too. Bunch of of good tributaries up in the dacks too. I fished a bunch up there when I went to SUNY Plattsburgh. Good Luck

Thanks for the feed back. I will definitly do some homework on the mentioned rivers. I will be there for a wedding with my wife and daughter but I will be on the water for first light some mornings. I'd love to swap some BC steelhead knowledge for some Upstate NY knowhow. I'll be sure to visit the shop.
Cheers
