Well,

In some parts of the world fly fishing season is beginning and others its ending.. Steelehead season is winding down while trout fishing on the east coast of USA is getting ready to start up... Anyway... Does anyone have any trips in 2006 that they are making or hope to be making?

I guess I will start with the trips I am looking forward to

1. Maine - I hope to fly fish many rivers in my home state that I have never fly fished before.

2. Rhode Island - Every spring I make a trip with my saltwater buddies and a few steelhead stragglers to the rhode island flats... we get our striper fix before they make it up to maine

3. West Coast Trout - Go fly fish with my friend Jason in July'ish..

4. Florida - Go chase some Tarpon when florida fly fishing is best - SUMMER.

5. Delaware River - Really looking forward to a few spring trips there

6. Steelhead Tribs - Visit some of the steelhead tribs in NY this spring.

7. Marthas Vineyard - Fall Albies

It's my one year anniversary of returning to fly fishing next month. It was a great year and I am pumped for the next year!!

1) steelhead, the continuing saga of steel. more trips this spring and again this fall.

2) trout. battenkill and other local waters (ADK).

3) a delaware trip, the so-called missouri of the east. if it is true, as the missouri is my favorite western water then it will be a glorious river to start to get to know.

4) smallmouth. I love smallies. we have great smallmouth fishing. i can't wait till opening day. wet wading, numerous fish on surface, or subsurface flies with some real brutes thrown in for good measure.

5) fishing with my 4 yr old son for trout and sunnies. short and sweet outings. the start of the education.

6)unknown fishing opportunities that may come up always keeps it interesting.

1 - Germany Baltic sea, end of March of start of April

2 - Denmark, Baltic sea, mid April

3 - Germany, Mohne river - April/May

4 - Germany, Harz Mountains in June

5 - Denmark Baltic sea / Jutland rivers in September

6 ... Anything I can get my hands on

I have visited our trout river in Germany this weekend with my buddy but
we both got skunked.
We where not alone though since the Germans also returned home that way.
It is way to cold down here for the time of year so nature is way behind schedule.
No fish where stocked and we could not find the hideouts of the resident fish.

The stream in spring (at least the calender says so)

1. More steel this spring

2. Catch a striper on their spawning run in the hudon mixed with shad

3. Hit Maine this year

4. Colorado in August

5. a never ending green drake pursuit: Delaware, local, ausable. Hit it right and you can travel north with the drakes for 2 weeks. or you will never see one if you hit it wrong.

6. explore the smaller Adirondack waters with my newly acquired 2wt.

7. Smallies

8. Zebra caddis on a secret Adirondack location.

Just got my new 9' 8wt rod in the mail yesterday. So steelhead and stripers are on the menu this season. Also a lot of trout fishing in Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire. Looking forward to a great 2006 season.

Since i will be guiding this summer i won't have a good variety of trips. However do get some full and half days off so those will be my trips on a world class river. Knowing myself i will spend time fishing for salmon but you can bet dollars to donuts that rainbows will consume most of my free time Exclamation

Late April: Slovakia. Take a train up there from Budapest, rent a mountain bike, and spend a week fishing the Vag and Bela. They had the World Fly Fishing competition up there a couple of years ago.

May: Slovenia. I want to try the Soca for Marble trout... for a freelance article. Scenery can't be beat.

July: Got a gig in France, spend my off days fishing in Alsace. A half hour out of Strasbourg on the commuter train and you are in fine trout country five minutes from the station. Cheap licenses, too!
