hey John, You can usually get a fish or two in August, or like in 98, the lake flipped and the salmon river was raised and acouple thousand fish moved in all the way up through the 81 hole. Depending on water flow and what kayak races are going on, you can get fish in the river by week #2. I usually start going the week before LAbor day and then on Labor day weekend for a day. I hooked 18 kings last Labor day weekend in DOuglaston. Crowds are down then and the fish are usually pissed off the water is low and warm...translation....chase streamers

Let me know when you all are heading down and I'll see if I can squeeze in some time. I don't care for the big rotting ones either.

I think that I will cruise down Monday morning and hit a few holes and see if I get any takers. A friend of mine told me that he saw a couple so I am anxious to get my line wet. Should I use my 5 wt or 8 wt? Ah..what the heck I'll bring both!!
