My dad and I are planning a trip to Islamorada in the florida keys and are planning on going offshore one day and on the flats two or three days. I was just wondering if anyone on here had been there and just trying to get a feel for what its gonna be like. When were offshore were not gonna be using fly rods but I will be using one on the flats so whats there in january? Permit? Bones? Tarpon? Snook? Anyway I could not be more excited. This will be my first actual trip fly fishing. Everything so far has been local(and thats not a complaint cuz steel is fun Very Happy ).

steelie,

post this question as a tip/quesiton on Flies And Fins South www.fliesandfinssouth.com
- those guys down there will be able to answer your questions with the most knoweldagble feeback .. and your question posted over there, will serve as a tip for others who also travel to the keys and use Flies And Fins South for a southern saltwater resource ... i have fished the keys .. but not nearly as much as headrush and others who live down there .. so your question will be better served over on south, better answerd and be in context for future anglers using who might use flies and fins south as a knowledge base for southern saltwater fly fishing... ok ... when you do post this as a question over there .. i will respond with what i know (for what its worth) .... i have fly fished the keys a few times from miami all the way down to key west .. just driving and fly fishing the flats on both the gulf and atlantic side of many of the keys ... but as i said, dave and others live down there and do it allot ..
