walleye flies what works best ? Will be fishing the grand river in michingan

I fished in canada for northern and i wrecked the walleyes on basic streamers clousers and such. pretty much anything that looks like a baitfish, chartruese and white or blue and white were good patterns. i think location is probably more important than the actual fly itself. when i had best luck with the walleye the best places were usually 4-12ft of water around a waterfall or any moving water where its not too deep to get'em with a fly.

I've fished for Walleye's on the Susquehanna river on the southern tier of NY. Had good luck with clousers, black or olive with white bellys and red eyes. Good Luck, Mooncaster

Whats my chance at gettin to 'em in about 30-40 ft of water in lake eire? trollin for themis big here but iv'e never heard of them on the fly. Do they make lines that could get the fly down there or what?

I stumbled on to some eyes on the potomac while fishing for trout. Black and olive wooley buggers worked for me.

Steelie,

You can get them in summer by trolling with streamers or leech patterns on leadcore line... If you want to get them by "casting" flies I recommend fishing in November-December off the piers and breakwalls in the Western basin. Big marabou streamers/baitfish patterns on sink tip lines will produce when the wind pushes bait pods up on the breakwalls. I grew up in Huron and there are alot of piers in the area that produce some nice fish if you are patient. Good luck.
