I have a battenkill mid arbor for my 9 wt and I use it for pike, bass and steelies, as well as saltwater when im fortunate enough. I am pleased with it . I paid 130$ for it and it has an incredible drag for the price. I am currently having problems with the reel handle because it is set for right hand retreive and has a tendency to loosen, but im working to try and get it worked out somehow. A little locktite and i should be good to go. It also won an award in fly rod and reel mag. Its really a nice reel. I would consider it if i were you.

Hi...I'm looking for a new saltwater reel, too...for a 7wt. I was considering the ROSS Fly Start - $55 ! It holds 225 yds backing with WF7F line! I am concerned that it may not be good for the salt...Anyone have any input on this reel?
