Does anyone here fish around Castine? I plan on going to the Maritime Academy for college, and fishing would be a real plus. If anyone could give some advice about fishing there, that would be great.

I really cannot give you precise advice about fishing that area, but I can guarantee you can catch stripers around there. With the Penobscot River being so close, you probably wont have trouble finding a decent spot to get into some fish just by riding around and looking for other guys fishing. And if you head inland up the river you will find fish, fish, and more fish. I'm not sure what species you prefer to target, but its hard to find a lake/pond/river/stream where you cannot catch fish in Maine. I hope that helps a little. If you decide to go to school in Maine it would be a safe bet to bring your fishing gear. Whether you are looking for salt or freshwater fish, you'll be sure to find some action.

Thank you, Capt. Ahab. I talked with one of my friends up there, and he said that there were a lot of mackerel around this past fall, so I'm sure those would be fun. I was also up there this past weekend, and we were able to find a couple of sweet looking streams.
