I have been looking at purchasing the Cybershot DSC N2 or the Olympus 770 SW. The Olympus is basically bomb proof while the Cybershot is not. Is the sacrifice for quality worth the built in waterproofness of the Olympus? Also, if I get the waterproof housing for the Cybershot, how much does it decline in quality of shots?

I am not a big fan of the Olympus. The video resolution is very poor. Only supports 320x240 instead of 640x480 like all the rest. It also doesnt use SD or Microdrives. You have to use the Olympus XD cards. You may want to check out the Pentax W30 or W20 if you can still find one. It too is waterproof without the housing and the video quality is great. It beat out the Olympus in virtually every category. The Sony will have better still image pictures with less noise than both the pentax and olympus. But not really noticeable to the normal eye. If you want the best over-all get the Sony with the waterproof housing. The pentax is a VERY close second at only $240. Good Luck

agreed with barbless .. sony for best video from a point and shoot camera 640x480 in .mpeg format ... the sports pack offers underwater protection ... that is what i would recommend ..

get a gig memory stick.

I have read that the quality of the Olympus was no where near the Sony. Though I have not seen it personally, the housing for the Sony looks a little big and bulky but seems to still be the way to go. Sony it is then. Thanks for the opinions.
