Fly Fishing - Orvis Nymph Land & Release Net

I bought an Orvis clearwater8wt. 4 piece rod from an online store. When I tryed to put it together the joints were too big for each other leaving a gap of around 1/4 inch. Should I take some fine sandpaper to make a tight flush fit? or is there a better way to correct this problem ?

If it's a new rod...as in your the original owner, then you should send the rod to orvis and they will correct the problem. If you do anything to the rod (sandpaper) the warranty will be voided and then they will not fix it.

If you mean "gap" by the two pieces don't push all the way together, then this is ok. Orvis rods usually wear in, and this is the way they are supposed to fit.

I'm sorry. I thought he meant the "female" end was to large for the "male" end, as in they were loose when put together. Sorry for the misinformation.

Hey thanks I talk to Orvis and found out it was made like that to relieve pressure at the joints. Again, thanks for the heads up
