Last fall in Florida I broke my St.Croix tidemaster 3 piece spinningrod while fishing for Bonita offshore.
That same day I delivered the rod for repair at a local tackle store where I purchased the rod.
I flew back to the Netherlands and talked one of relatives in to taking care of the repair issue.

It is now three months later and I finally got an answer to what happened to my rod. This is the story I got from my relative who talked to one of the tackle stores employees:

The tacklestore received a letter from the repair company that the costs to fix the rod would be 110 dollars.
The person handling the mail in the shop mistook the letter for an add and threw it away.

I guess my relative came bugging them again and again what happened with the rod when they finally checked and called the repair company to find out that their repair offer was cancelled.

So they now offering me a deal to buy an identical rod for 100 $. At Cabela's they sell that type of rod for 175$ so I guess it is a fair deal. Still the whole business has left a sour taste behind so no more Ace and St.Croix for me for a while.

If I get the urge to go after the bottom feeders I might go for an ugly stick one piece though Smile I rather save the 100 dollars for a new flyrod....
