Just wanted to share with my buddies over at flies and fins that my wife and I found out that we will be having another fish to add to our school of Underwoods. This will be our third. Not expected at all but we're excited. Woops! Just when we get one out of diapers, we're back to square one!

matt -- wow! congratulations ... did you ever think that your the only one who thought it was "not expected at all" .... if your wife is anything like mine .... i could definately see how she might "mistakingly" get pregnant again .. we also have 2 children 2.5 years old and 8 months old and my wife is already talking about how she misses having a "baby" ... i'm like, "huh???? Shocked .. don't we have 2 babies now" .. and she's like, "i mean a real baby" ... i never underestimate a womans drive for children or more children, it is a very powerful force .... if i were a betting man, i would probably bet that you are the only one really saying "woops!" .... congratulations, that is awesome news !!

This time is truly a shock to both of us. There are failure rates that you hear about and play the odds anyway! We're happy and freaked out. You're right about the woman's desire for children. My kids are 5 and 2.5 years and we have a boy and a girl. Life was seemingly perfect outside of normal "life stresses". At least we have everything we need. The diaper thing is wearing me out as it is. Amy and I were talking a couple of weeks ago about how nice it was that we were almost completly done with them. Oh well. I will tell you this. Expect lots of fishing pictures over the next couple of months. I assume that the first couple of months that the baby is here, I will have kid duty and not be able to get out much. I'll be packing much fishing in starting immediately. I need to get out with you on the coast soon. I need someone to show me how to really wrestle the big boys. I hit the salt this weekend and had bite after bite and couldn't get one landed. Big blues, reds, and sharks all off the jetty. They either bit me off or I popped the line. I figured out that salt fly is not much different than fresh. When you start, the first thing is to learn to cast, then figuring out where the fish are. Next is fly selection on to the set, then landing. In the salt, I've figured out where they are, how to cast in hella windy situations, fly presentation, hook set, now its time to get them in! Glad I had some good buddies, music, and lots and lots of beer to ease my pain!

When I walked to the end of a long jetty (was a pain getting out there, no asphalt top) and saw a couple of small ones pushing the bait in. I'm not sure about the species, I don't know them well enough. I'll try and see if I can identify them and let you know. I think my trout fishing tendencies were in effect while I was there. I was using way too light of flouro.
