So if we're all fishing Florida's Everglades Nat. Park, The Keys, The Beaches and estuaries, and you guys are coming to Naples to hopefully fish with us.....you'll need to tie up some shrimps.
Here's a pattern that works well wherever there are Shrimps for fish to eat;
You can tie thee up in various shades of white, tan, orange, dark brown...even black works well in muddy water. Rabbit Zonker strips, bead chain eyes, tan mono rib, and a bit of krystal flash....that's it!
Toss them anywhere fish are eating and keep the fly moving. Small sizes work well on Reds and Bonefish, bigger sizes work on Snook and Poonies.
I hope a bunch of us can get together in Naples this winter season. I have a place there and you're welcome to visit!

| Nice Ties! Believe it or not-I could fish for Steelhead out here with those. The Steelhead out here love shrimp. Kind of like fishing Mysis back in the great lakes. I love that white light bright chenile (Estaz?). Fish go nuts for it! |

Chrystal Chenille alright, jason! Thanks for the comp. The #8 in orange works on the Salmon R. Tribs too. See if you can get to Naples this winter.

nice ties marshall - with the cool weather down in fla - the snook should start feeding on the shrimp in the bays. it was funny - last winter i got lots of snook on a shrimp pattern very similiar to your top picture - light brown and small. i tried it this fall and got nothing. headrush told me that shrimp work better in the winter down there and i found that to be true. in the winter you can actually watch an innocent shrimp come down through the current and under the dock lights. as soon as he passes that light a big dark shadow will shoot out of the shadows and inhale those little buggers. jacks like em too.
NICE TIE! |
