"tridge" posted a comment in the chat asking, "Any suggestions a girl trying to learn flysifhing? Intro trips? ... It kinda sat there unanswered for a bit ... probably because the majority of fly fishers on this site are men ... but, i do have some really good fly fishing buddies who's wives and girlfriends are excellent fly fishers ... my wife, is actually taking a course in a couple weeks ... anyway .. joey and boz maybe amy and amelia might a few intro tips to pass on to tridge .. thanks. oh ya, tom k's girlfriend/wife janice is a fly fisher too .... i am sure help would be appreciated from any other women/girl fly fishers out there that i forgot about or don't know ... thanks.

Tridge, I would just take her out yourself and play guide for the day. Teach her the fundamentals and see of she likes it. Thats what I did with amy and now she asks me to go fishing. Take her to a spot where you know you'll catch a fish and make it fun. If she is not having fun.....you'll know. If she likes being outdoors and being active I am sure she'll enjoy fly fishing. Let us know how you do.

Tridge-

I'll second what joey said about going out with someone who knows how to catch fish, and have them show you the ropes. Fishing for warmwater like bass) fish is a good way to get used to casting, learning line control and landing fish, cuaser they are easy to catch. Then you can apply those skills to fish for anything on the fly.

Where are you located? I know LL Bean offers womens fly casting clinics designed to take begginers and teach them how to cast, knots etc... Course that is in Freeport Maine...

One of the greatest fly casting instructors on earth is Joan Wulff, check out her books and DVDs. She's really good.

If you are ever in Maine I know quite a few talented lady flyfishers including my wife who could get you on the water and help out.

Best of Luck.
And welcome to the Fliesandfins family... there are a lot of talented fisherman who post here...you're in the right place.
