Well, its now 2010. We've been doing this for many years now. Here is last years (2009) "Fish Wish List." Curious to hear what's on peoples radars this year. For me, I did get one fish off my personal "fish wish list" that had been out of reach for me up until last year. I finally got a chance to fish for roosterfish and I was lucky enough to catch one from foot. So, for me - 2009 was my "roosterfish" year. So, what is on your "fish wish list" for 2010?

As always, the significance is only meaningful to you. Could be small, big, hard to find, hard to catch, fresh, salt, a world away, a local fish, a cat fish, a pumpkin seed, your first fish on fly, first striped bass, first bonefish .. doesn't really matter .. and one is not better than the next .. Just simply fun to see what everyone's dream fish is, as of 2010! I've entered my 2010 "fish wish list" as a new post (scroll down). Below are some lists from last year.

---------------------------------------------------

Jeremy
Roosterfish

Zack
Wild Brookies!

Larry
Red Fish

Michael

Honson
My obsession will always be....TARPON

Derek

Dean
A bluefin off the coast of Maine....

Dennis
a brook trout in my back yard

Jaanisoo
a nice rainbow

Harald
A biiiiig sea-trout in salt and a trout + Artic Char,thank you......Smile

Afzul

This year (2010) ... my "wish list" goes something like ... Permit, Blueback Trout, Peacock Bass, 18" Delaware River Brown trout on dry fly, 40" striper on fly, Pacific Native steelhead. There are many more, but that's plenty to work on for 2010 - and even if I get just one of those - it will be a good year. Actually, even if I get none of those it will be a good year - but its nice to dream. What's on your wish list for 2010?

I really want to catch an Atlantic Salmon. Probably not going to happen since I live about 2000 miles away from anything close. But, stranger things have happened. Best 2010 to everyone.

A tunoid from a New England beach would be a prime suspect but also one of those high colored brookies in some forgotten small stream would be nice.
Another shot at the Stripers is also on my list, hell any fish mentioned in previous posts is.

Wow! Looking back I can actually scratch the 36" bass off the list and was so close to my pacific steelhead that it almost brings a tear to my eye (came unbuttoned). I guess 09' was a stellar fishing year. I have to put the Native Pacific Chrome back to the top of the list and keep the Delaware river shad as runner-up for 2010.

I am still screaming Rooster on foot, or any other means for that matter. But, I would also like to get a shot at a Permit. And, I still would like to try to get you East Coasters into a Pacific Steelhead! Come on out West and fish! May 2010 grant all your fishing wishes!

What a great topic!

FRESH:

Golden Trout (there is a lake in the mountains near where I live that is said to have wild goldens)

Kokanee Salmon (another local lake is said to have these in there; I have never caught a salmon species before)

Carp (I have caught a carp before on a spinning rod, but never on a fly)

SALT:

bone/permit/tarpon (going to Belize for the first time this summer!)

Also, I want to add...

I have caught many cutthroat trout before, but on my "to-do" list is the Wyoming Cutt-Slam; catching 4 different species of native Wyoming cutthroat trout, documenting them with photos, then submitting them to the Wyoming Game and Fish. Once the four species are verified, I get a fancy certificate!

After being laid off for a little over a year, my wish list is very modest for 2010.

1.) Catch at least 5 trout over 20" in a certain hidden gem that has some monster browns and bows in it.

2.) A musky, never caught one the fly.

3.) Catch something "good" on a two hander. Not picky at all about the fish species. Just want one of those bone jarring hits that almost rips the rod out of your hands and then landing a nice sized fish.

4.) Last one. Watch my 9 year old with his little glass rod catch some more fish!

well any fish is a good fish, but here are a few that I haven't tangled with yet

Shad from the Kennebec river

A False Albie or Blue fish

Pike

Of Course If i have to stick to Brookies, Browns, Landlocked Salmon, smallmouths and stripers It would still be a year well spent!!

Already crossed one off my list for the year, a site fished striper on the flats,
next a striper over #20 or 36", an albie from shore.

As far as lifetime fish go roosters from the surf, and a keys slam
