Howdy,
The resource, that I recommend most to folks above all else .. and to get sound advise and recommendations for anything in Florida is Dave Teper and Will Benson at World Angling. Dave Teper also runs www.fliesandfinssouth.com and there is some great information over there in terms of tips and tricks for Florida fly fishing. So, for the best advise on guides and from guys who are themselves and are "connected" to some of the best saltwater fly fisherman in Florida and beyond .. I default to saying "Talk to Dave and Will - as they don't align themselves with anyone who is not of a certain caliber of fly fishing guide and fly fisherman." If you wonder if they can fly fishing .. just go to the www.worldangling.com home page and see the video "connected" that just one The Drake Magazines 2008 "best fly fishing film" and while you are there check out the video that won from the previous year "Tarpon Season" ... So, these guys and the guys they align themselves with in the everglades and the florida keys and the bahamas are the real deal. All certified captains and world class fly fisherman who know how to get it done on the water. Check those resources out - I'll email dave and will and see if they can come over here and help you out too.
After that - Waterwhippa, didn't you do a trip with Dave Teper on the trail with a guide? You got into some nice peacocks right? And Marshal you obviously know the trail and you also have done lots of trips (I think) with and through both Dave Teper and World Angling and some of your own stuff. Maybe the both of you can give some insight.
Also - if you are interested in "the trail" you might want to consider going out of Chocoloskee area way into the Back Country with Kevin Mahalof or several of the other top guides that are "connected" to Dave Tepper/Flies And Fins and World Angling. I can guarantee you that .. you will see stuff and fish to stuff that you just won't see on the Tamiami Trail and guys like Kevin know the everglades and backcountry and the 10,000 islands like the back of their hand. Good luck. Have fun. |
