i am interested in the areas surrounding houma/du lac. can someone direct me to info about: the best months, what to expect for conditions and useful "local" knowledge. i have heard the fish are huge but water clarity is questionable for site fishing. what are the effects of tides? what does barometric pressure do to the "bite"? basically what seems to work best. thanks to anyone who can help or direct me to someone who will help me.

I'm very familiar with the LA delta, but closer to the town of Lafitte.
spoon flies, kwans, clousers, all work. also, a fly I tie bayou bengal is outstanding. works great in that off colored water. Best times to go, if you are planning in advance, are the summer months...less wind and stable weather patterns.
Tides are extremely important. I look for at least a foot differential between high and low.....ideally, you want water moving all day--during the fishing hours. I prefer falling tide, but sometimes you just can't wait til everything is perfect. Hope this helps.

Oh, one more thing.....you will have no problem site fishing in LA--that's the best way to do it. I hate blind casting unless I really have to. look for pushes and tails or backs, lead him just a touch, and hang on.
