hi there, i live in the caribbean surrounded
with dolphin, all sizes of tarpon, snook, tuna, permit
etc. i want to know what brand of reel has a good drag
and line capacity. actually i am starting with this of the fly fishing
about 3 years ago, i have a orvis large arbor battenkill I, wf9,
i know the nautilus reels, abel, tibor, etc but i am most interesting in
mid priced reels

| I would look at both Waterworks Lamson reels or Ross Reels. They both have a range of different models for good price points that hold up very well and perform great in saltwater. Both also have very good lifetime warranties. |

| For 9 wt - 11 wt I would strongly recommend Lamson Lightspeed 4 - same drag as their more expensive models and indestructable finish |

There is a web store out there called DEALS ON THE FLY. Need to check it out. It is a one item at a time, but killer deals. Last night there was a Hardy reel for a killer price...it might be back, but at any rate, check this out:

Check out the price that Red Truck Flyfishing has on Abel Super 10 and Big Game 4 reels. And I know I will get blasted for this but here goes.
If you are going to be serious about saltwater flyfishing, especially if you want to try and catch a tuna, then forget "mid priced reels". Tuna will eat you up. |

| just got back from the fishwest.com website great deals and really good guys to deal with, bought three reels and they will spool it with backing and line for 35 bucks....no shipping and the bonefish rio line they are putting on it is 74.95 on the net and the reel is 134.95 for the hardy name and the line is a great deal cant wait to get to cayo coco for the bonefish and tarpon in april |
