Finally got the boat in the water yesterday and fished for about an hour or so drifting some shallows. Got a fat little 20-inch bass, which is significant only because it was my first of the year, and because I caught it on a black clouser I bought from Fisherboy.
If anyone needs flies, he tied me some really nice clousers and half-and-halfs, as well as furled leaders I used with success fishing big streamer patterns for northern pike. |

nice work pete - wait till you see the striper action from this past weekend in Rhode Island...absolute mayhem...i know your a striper/bluefish fanatic...you will enjoy the content - there were 6 of us we ...stay tuned
ps - that is so cool that fisherboys clousers and leaders worked for you. he is a great kid..he can tie like nobody's business..in fact i am having him tie an entire box of trout flies for me. 100 flies..20 buggers, 20 wet flies, 20 prince nyphms, 20 caddis, 20 adams dry. We are calling it the "Simple Box" - when you think about it - it's really all you need (minus streamer patterns) - that box would catch trout anywhere in the world. Fisherboy is getting out of school and june and will have plenty of time to tie - so if anyone out there wants to put a GOOD 14 year old kid to work doing something he LOVES and something that he is VERY good at just get in touch with Fisherboy. He ties furled leaders, trout flies, streamer patterns, saltwater flies...I would not recommend him if I was not absolutely amazed with his capabilities. |

Fisherboy's only 14? He's a prodigy!
That's very cool to be that young and have a passion that you can enjoy into your 80s. Seriously, the flies are professional quality stuff.
Can't wait to see the striper report. |

Howdy!
Thanks guys, I appreciate it.
Pete, glad that you like those flys and leaders. I have a question for you.... when you caught that fish did that hook seem to penetrate well? The hook is called a daichi x point and is designed to make setting the hook easy, and it suposivly keeps fish on better than traditional hooks. Did you notice the difference? They seem like nice hooks, so I kept a few for myself
I do not believe in bad tying. I consider myself a perfection tyer and never fish with anything poorly tied let alone sell them. Same with my furled leaders.
If anybody is intrested in furled leaders or hand tied flies, shoot me an e-mail at austinkh90@hotmail.com
Tight lines

| I didn't notice a difference, but I wasn't really looking for it either. I'll pay attention to the hookset next time out and give you a heads up on the daichis. |
